The Believer’s Authority: Authority Begins with Christ Vol 2
Key Scripture:
> “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” — Colossians 2:15 (NKJV)
Introduction
Our authority does not begin with us—it begins with Jesus. Christianity is not about trying to defeat the devil; it’s about enforcing a victory that Jesus already won.
When Jesus died and rose again, He didn’t just save us from sin—He defeated Satan completely.
Jesus Won the Battle
At the cross, Jesus stripped Satan of his authority. The enemy still exists, but he is defeated. He is loud, but powerless against a believer who knows the truth.
Jesus Himself declared: > “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” — Matthew 28:18
And then He sent that authority to us.
Kenneth E. Hagin Insight
Hagin teaches that Jesus defeated Satan as a man, not using His divine power alone. This is powerful—because it means the same victory is available to us as believers.
Youth Life Example
Imagine a school prefect given authority by the head teacher. The power doesn’t come from the prefect—it comes from the office backing them. In the same way, believers operate under Christ’s authority.
Devotional Reflection
· Do you see Jesus as victorious—or just sympathetic?
· Are you fighting battles Jesus already won?
Prayer
Jesus, I thank You that You are victorious. Teach me to stand in Your finished work and not fight from fear. Amen.
